Commonwealth of Independent States
Cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States is based on long-standing professional contacts between the highest courts of the CIS member states. The key documents include the 1992 Agreement on Cooperation in the Sphere of Justice, the 1992 Agreement on Consultative Meetings of Chairpersons of the Supreme Courts of CIS Countries, and the 2010 Agreement on Mutual Cooperation and Exchange of Legal Information between the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the Economic Court of the CIS.
The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation participates in CIS-related judicial formats, including meetings of the Council of Chairpersons of Supreme (Highest) Courts of CIS Member States, expert events and discussions of issues related to recognition and enforcement of judgments, legal assistance, economic justice and harmonization of judicial practice.
In December 2024, the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation took part in a meeting of the Council of Chairpersons of Supreme (Highest) Courts of CIS Member States by videoconference. In December 2025, representatives of supreme and highest courts of CIS states and the Economic Court of the CIS took part in a round table on the practice of applying the 1992 Agreement on the Procedure for Resolving Disputes Related to Economic Activity.
