Shanghai Cooperation Organization
Cooperation between the supreme courts of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is one of the key multilateral formats of judicial dialogue. Since the first meeting of the chairpersons of the supreme courts of the SCO member states, held in Shanghai in 2006, this format has served as a platform for exchanging experience and coordinating professional approaches in the sphere of justice.
The meetings of the chairpersons of the supreme courts of the SCO member states address issues of mutual legal assistance, application of international treaties, combating extremism, terrorism, drug-related crimes and human trafficking, protection of rights and freedoms, development of administrative and economic justice, digital transformation of courts, mediation, and professional training for judges and court staff.
In 2024, the XIX Meeting of the Chairpersons of the Supreme Courts of the SCO Member States was held in Tashkent. The meeting focused on judicial practice in cases related to transnational trafficking in persons, use of mediation in civil proceedings, protection of property rights, development of administrative justice, and digitalization of judicial proceedings. A Joint Statement was signed following the meeting.
In 2025, the XX Meeting of the Chairpersons of the Supreme Courts of the SCO Member States was held in Hangzhou. The agenda included judicial governance in the field of cybersecurity, judicial application of artificial intelligence, prevention and resolution of conflicts and disputes, protection of minors, and combating violent and terrorist crimes. A Joint Statement was signed following the meeting.
