The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation holds a key position in the organization and functioning of the Court.
In accordance with federal constitutional law, the Chief Justice organizes the work of the Supreme Court and ensures the effective performance of its judicial and institutional functions.
Among other powers, the Chief Justice:
- Organizes the overall work of the Supreme Court.
- Presides over sessions of the Plenum of the Supreme Court and other judicial formations of the Court.
- Distributes duties among the Deputy Chairmen of the Court.
- Represents the Supreme Court in relations with federal state bodies, courts, and other institutions.
- Exercises additional powers established by federal legislation.
Through these responsibilities, the Chief Justice ensures the coordinated functioning of the Court and contributes to the effective administration of justice at the highest level of the judicial system of the Russian Federation.
