Ensuring Uniform Judicial Practice

One of the central functions of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation is to ensure the uniform interpretation and application of legislation by courts.

To achieve this objective, the Court studies and generalizes judicial practice and provides clarifications to courts on issues arising in the application of law. Such clarifications are adopted at sessions of the Plenum of the Supreme Court and are issued in the form of resolutions of the Plenum.

These resolutions contain authoritative interpretations of legal provisions and guidance for courts regarding the application of legislation. They play an important role in promoting consistency and predictability in judicial practice throughout the Russian Federation.

The generalization of judicial practice and the adoption of Plenum resolutions contribute to the uniform development of legal doctrine and to the consistent administration of justice.
